Complexus celebrates 25 years: from a garden office to national-scale projects
In 2026, Complexus celebrates its 25th anniversary. It is a milestone that gives us the opportunity to reflect on where we started, the work we have been trusted to deliver and the principles that continue to shape our business.
What began in 2001 in a timber office built in the garden has grown into a specialist technology business supporting organisations operating in some of the most demanding environments.
Our workspace has changed considerably over those years. Our commitment to understanding a challenge and engineering the right solution remains at the heart of what we do.
Where it all began
Complexus’s first base was a home-built garden office. Small, practical and hands-on, it provided a place to develop ideas, engineer solutions and lay the foundations of the business.
As the business developed, we moved into Eliot Park Innovation Centre in Warwickshire. That small office gave us a professional base from which to work with clients and take on increasingly ambitious projects.
Today, Eliot Park remains our home. The move from a garden office to a small office, and then into larger premises, tells one part of our story. The work we have been trusted to undertake tells the rest.
Supporting systems that matter
Over the past 25 years, our work has developed across critical communications and location technology, supporting public safety, defence, critical infrastructure, vehicles, assets and people.
These are areas where understanding the operational requirement matters just as much as understanding the technology. A solution needs to fit the environment, the people using it and the responsibilities it supports.
Critical communications
Complexus provides specialist consultancy, engineering, integration and assurance for mission and safety-critical communications.
Our work spans secure radio, control rooms, connectivity, backhaul and interoperability. Bringing these elements together requires careful attention to how the complete system will operate, rather than considering each component in isolation.
Public safety
We support national multi-agency public safety communications, including UK Emergency Services Network assurance and secure radio and dispatch integration.
This work reflects the importance of dependable communications for organisations whose teams need to coordinate and share information in demanding situations.
Defence and critical infrastructure
Our experience includes secure communications and technical assurance for defence and critical infrastructure, covering UK Ministry of Defence, US military and multinational projects, alongside cyber-security assurance.
The scale and complexity of these projects have grown considerably since our early days, while the need for thorough engineering and accountability has remained constant.
Location and tracking technology
Alongside critical communications, Complexus provides location and tracking solutions to help protect people, vehicles and assets.
Our work ranges from fleet and lone worker tracking to specialist deployments supporting more than 300 firearms users with real-time location, geofencing and alerts.
This breadth of work demonstrates how location technology can be applied to very different operational requirements, with the solution shaped around the application.
Technology has changed. Our approach has stayed consistent.
Technology has evolved enormously since Complexus began in 2001. The options available, the ways systems connect and the expectations placed on them continue to develop.
Throughout that change, our approach has remained grounded in a clear process:
Understand the operational requirement.
Select the right technology.
Integrate it properly.
Test it thoroughly.
Remain accountable when the system matters.
Those principles connect our earliest work with the projects we undertake today. They guide how we approach a brief, assess a solution and support its delivery.
Built in Warwickshire, working far beyond it
We are proud of our Warwickshire roots and the journey that has brought us to our 25th year.
From a timber office in the garden to work on national-scale and multinational projects, Complexus has grown through engineering expertise, integration and trust.
This anniversary is also an opportunity to thank the clients, partners and people who have been part of that journey. We appreciate the trust placed in us and the opportunities to contribute to projects where our work makes a difference.
As we look ahead, we will continue to apply the same care to understanding requirements, selecting technology and delivering properly integrated solutions.
